India, June 27 -- Veteran Tamil filmmaker, actor and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj passed away on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 73. Hospital sources confirmed that the celebrated filmmaker breathed his last while undergoing treatment in Chennai.

A stalwart of Tamil cinema, Bhagyaraj was renowned for his distinctive storytelling, subtle humour and witty dialogues that resonated with audiences across generations. His films, often centred on middle-class families and everyday life, earned him widespread acclaim during a career spanning more than five decades.
