India, June 26 -- Venezuela is reeling after two powerful earthquakes struck the northern region of the country, leaving widespread destruction and a rising death toll.

According to officials, at least 188 people have died and more than 1,500 others have been injured, as rescue teams continue urgent operations to find survivors trapped under collapsed buildings.

The twin quakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, hit within seconds of each other on Wednesday evening, causing severe damage across multiple states including La Guaira, Carabobo, Aragua, and the capital region near Caracas.
