India, May 9 -- The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) extended unconditional support to actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), significantly strengthening the alliance's claim to form the next government in Tamil Nadu.

The announcement was made through letters addressed to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, confirming that VCK's two MLAs would support TVK in its bid to form the government in the 234-member Assembly.

VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan stated that the decision was taken "in the interest of stable and democratic governance" and extended "unconditional support" to the TVK-led alliance.
