India, July 8 -- The Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment has recovered Rs.1.62 crore in cash, gold worth nearly Rs.20 crore, silver and documents linked to multiple movable and immovable properties during raids at the Lucknow residence of former Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Lalit Kumar in a disproportionate assets case.

The searches were conducted over two days, July 7 and 8, as part of an investigation into allegations that Kumar amassed assets far beyond his known sources of income during his tenure as ARTO in Agra. Officials suspect the recovered wealth was acquired through corrupt practices and are examining financial records and property documents seized during the operation.
