India, May 27 -- A Uganda national who was placed under isolation in Bengaluru after reporting mild symptoms has tested negative for Ebola virus disease, health officials confirmed today.

The 28-year-old woman had recently travelled from Uganda, an East African country where Ebola cases have been reported in certain regions. As a precaution, she was admitted to the state-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Bengaluru for observation.

Officials said the patient experienced mild body ache symptoms, which prompted doctors to conduct detailed screening and send samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for testing.

The test results confirmed that she is not infected with Ebola, bringing relief to health authorities.
