India, Sept. 24 -- Two persons were killed and two others injured when an SUV caught fire after hitting an electric pole on a divider on National Highway 127 in Assam's Nagaon district early Thursday, an official said.

The SUV, bearing an Arunachal Pradesh registration number, was travelling from Koliabor towards Guwahati when the accident occurred, he said.

According to the official, the accident took place around 5.20 am when the vehicle hit the divider and an electric pole near a curve.

"Under the impact of the collision, the car rolled over to the other lane of the national highway and almost immediately burst into flames," the official said.
