India, May 24 -- Twisha Sharma's last rites were performed in Bhopal on Sunday, 12 days after her death, following the completion of legal and medical procedures linked to the ongoing investigation into her case.

Her body was handed over to the family after a second autopsy conducted by a special medical board from AIIMS Delhi.

The prolonged delay in conducting the final rites had drawn significant public attention as Twisha's family had earlier demanded a second post-mortem examination, raising concerns over the initial findings and seeking a more transparent investigation.

The second autopsy was ordered after court intervention, with a four-member AIIMS Delhi team carrying out the medical examination in Bhopal.
