India, May 20 -- Police in Bhopal have urged the family of Twisha Sharma to take custody of her body from the AIIMS Bhopal mortuary, warning that further delay could lead to decomposition.

Twisha Sharma was found dead at her in-laws' home on May 12, just months after her marriage. Her body has remained at the mortuary since May 13, as her family has refused to accept it pending a second post-mortem examination.

In a letter to the family, police said the body had already been preserved for several days and could deteriorate further, noting that ideal long-term preservation facilities were not available at the hospital.
