India, July 18 -- A local leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has been arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district for allegedly assaulting a woman during a dispute over a water pump connection, police said. The incident took place on the night of July 15 in Krishnababu Colony under the Nallapadu police station limits and sparked outrage in the locality.

According to the police, the accused allegedly attacked the woman after an argument over the installation of a water pump connection. Investigators said the woman was physically assaulted, sustained bleeding injuries, and her clothes were torn during the altercation.
