India, July 4 -- To combat the issue of power theft and ensure disciplined electricity usage, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) has secured 7 convictions in electricity theft cases so far in FY 2026-27, including the recent conviction from Patiala House Courts. The special court has sentenced the offender to undergo one month of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000, along with civil liability of Rs 379,124/-.

The case pertains to an electricity theft complaint received by Tata Power-DDL's Corporate Enforcement Group, following which an inspection was conducted on February 17, 2023, at an unauthorised jhuggi located opposite WZ-462, near the Pump House, Village Todapur, Dasghara, Delhi.
