Tamil Nadu CM Vijay accuses DMK of politicising Karur Stampede, faults police response
India, July 10 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay accused the DMK of attempting to derive political mileage from the 2025 Karur stampede and criticised the police for allegedly failing to alert organisers about the swelling crowd that led to the tragedy.
Visiting Karur for the first time since the stampede, which claimed 41 lives during a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) event on September 27, 2025, Vijay said the police neither warned the organisers about the crowd becoming unmanageable nor exercised their authority to cancel the gathering.
