India, May 21 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay expanded his cabinet in a major political move, inducting 23 new MLAs into the Council of Ministers and significantly increasing the strength of his government.

The expansion comes only weeks after the formation of the new administration and is being viewed as an effort to strengthen governance and provide broader representation within the ruling setup.

One of the most notable developments in the expansion is the return of the Congress party to the Tamil Nadu government after nearly six decades.

Two Congress legislators, Rajesh Kumar and P. Vishwanathan, were inducted into the ministry, marking the party's first participation in a Tamil Nadu cabinet in around 59 years.
