India, May 8 -- In a major political development in West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari has been announced as the state's new Chief Minister, according to party sources.

The announcement comes amid ongoing government formation talks following the recent Assembly election results in which the BJP emerged victorious.

As per reports, the new West Bengal cabinet is expected to include two deputy chief ministers, with one of the positions likely to be reserved for a woman leader.
