India, May 10 -- Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Sunday congratulated actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, while emphasising the long-standing cultural and historical relationship between Sri Lanka and the southern Indian state.
In a social media message, President Dissanayake said Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu share deep-rooted connections shaped by history, culture, trade and strong people-to-people ties across generations.
"Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu are connected through history, culture, enterprise, and enduring people-to-people ties across generations," the Sri Lankan President wrote.
