Bhopal, Aug. 26 -- Speculation is growing within the BJP that former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and current Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan could soon be appointed as the party's national president.
Party insiders note that the post is among the most crucial in the organisation, demanding a leader who enjoys broad acceptability, commands respect across party ranks, projects an image of inclusiveness and has the ability to unite different factions.
Chouhan, a four-time Chief Minister, is seen as one of the few leaders in the BJP who meets these criteria, making him a strong contender for the top post.
