India, Jan. 7 -- Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, on Tuesday, strongly refuted claims by Leader of Opposition Atishi that Members of the House were expelled merely for wearing masks. He called the allegation "factually incorrect" and a deliberate attempt to mislead the Assembly and the public.

In a detailed statement, the Speaker clarified that four Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, Sanjeev Jha, Som Dutt, Kuldeep Kumar, and Jarnail Singh, were suspended solely for disrupting the proceedings of the House and not for wearing masks, as had been alleged. He said the action was taken strictly to maintain order, dignity, and authority of the Assembly.
