Bengaluru, Oct. 22 -- In a remark that has stirred Karnataka's already simmering political cauldron, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra, has said his father is in the "final phase" of his political career and should play the role of a margdarshak (mentor) to Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi. The statement has reignited speculation over leadership transition within the Congress in the state.

Speaking at an event in Belagavi, attended by Jarkiholi, Yathindra - an MLC - said, "My father is in the final phase of his political career. At this stage, he should mentor leaders with a progressive mindset and strong ideology. Satish Jarkiholi embodies these values and can uphold the Congress ideology effectively."
