Shaurya Chakra awards to two Manipur natives brought immense pride: CM
India, June 10 -- Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Tuesday said confering the Shaurya Chakra on two defence personnel from the state brought immense pride to the people.
His remarks came after Major Leishangthem Deepak Singh of 11 Para (Special Forces) and Rifleman Manglem Sang Vaiphei of 3 Assam Rifles, both from Manipur, were awarded the Shaurya Chakra on Monday for displaying raw courage, unparalleled bravery and total disregard for personal safety in the line of duty.
President Droupadi Murmu conferred seven Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, and 29 Shaurya Chakras to the personnel of the defence forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State or Union Territory police forces.
