India, Sept. 5 -- Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has reported strong growth in sales and production during August 2026, with its financial position also strengthening.

The company achieved its best-ever August production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel. Crude steel production rose 8 per cent year-on-year to 1.68 million tonnes (MT), compared with 1.55 MT in August 2025. Hot metal production increased 9 per cent to 1.78 MT from 1.63 MT, while saleable steel rose 1 per cent to 1.69 MT from 1.66 MT.

SAIL recorded a 13 per cent year-on-year increase in overall sales volumes during August, reaching 1.871 MT compared with 1.654 MT in the corresponding period last year. Cash collections also grew 23 per cent.
