India, Oct. 7 -- Russian missiles and drones struck Kyiv and around a dozen Ukrainian regions overnight into Wednesday, killing at least 15 civilians, including three children, and injuring more than 40, Ukrainian officials said.

Ukraine had anticipated the attack, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning a day earlier that intelligence indicated Russia was preparing a "massive" strike. But the warning was not enough to prevent extensive deaths and damage.
