Railways aproves Rs.993 crore Arakkonam-Chengalpattu Doubling Project
India, May 19 -- In a major boost to Chennai's suburban rail network, Indian Railways has approved the Arakkonam-Chengalpattu doubling project at an estimated cost of Rs.993 crore.
The 68-km project, under Southern Railway, aims to enhance capacity on one of the busiest sections of the Chennai suburban rail system. Officials said the route is a crucial part of the Chennai circular rail network connecting Chennai Beach, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, and Arakkonam.
