PWD floats tender to redevelop some roads as model road
India, June 11 -- The Delhi Government's Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the process to redevelop some road stretches as "model roads" in the city, officials said on Wednesday.
Under the pilot project, the PWD will redevelop 160 kilometres of road network this year to combat air pollution. It will undertake complete paving of road shoulders and central verges, along with landscaping and greenery work.
In the first leg, work will begin on the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road.
"The Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road will be developed as a 'model road' at a cost of Rs 4.7 crore, for which a tender has been floated," an official said.
