India, July 18 -- PV Sindhu reached the final of the Japan Open Super 750 for the first time in her career after defeating China's Olympic champion Chen Yufei in the women's singles semi-final in Tokyo. The Indian shuttler won the opening game 21-19 and was leading 15-10 in the second when Chen was forced to retire due to a hamstring injury, handing Sindhu a place in the title clash.

The victory marked a significant milestone for the two-time Olympic medallist, who ended a five-match losing streak against Chen and advanced to her first BWF World Tour final since 2024.
