India, June 2 -- A 17-year-old Class 12 student from Amritsar, Punjab, has died by suicide after allegedly facing repeated harassment from her school administration over unpaid fees, triggering outrage and demands for a thorough investigation. The student's family has accused school authorities of subjecting her to mental pressure and humiliation due to pending fee payments.

According to family members, the student had outstanding school fees of around Rs.20,000. They alleged that despite requests for additional time and installment-based payments, school officials continued to pressure her over the dues.
