India, June 15 -- The growing craze for gyms and fitness is attracting young people toward supplements at a rapid pace. However, experts warn that using certain supplements without proper research and verification can pose serious health risks.

According to Dr Kartik Sahni, Founder and Gastroenterologist at Sahni Gastro & Liver Care, Shakti Nagar, not every protein supplement available in the market is safe. Some products may contain substances that are not even disclosed on their labels. These may include anabolic steroids, heavy metals, and other hepatotoxic chemicals that can cause severe liver damage.
