India, July 8 -- The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two fugitive brothers, Firasat Ali and Shah Nawaz, who had been on the run for almost ten years. They avoided imprisonment after their appeal was denied by the Delhi High Court in 2016. The two were caught in separate operations in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, and Godda, Jharkhand.

According to the Crime Branch, both brothers were found guilty in a 1996 murder case at Rajouri Garden Police Station. A Delhi court sentenced them to life in prison in 2000, but they were released on bail while their appeal was pending. After the Delhi High Court upheld their conviction in 2016, they failed to surrender to authorities and stayed hidden.
