India, June 10 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, as tensions continue to rise in West Asia.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders "exchanged views on the evolving security situation in West Asia."

The MEA said the Prime Minister "expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions" and reaffirmed India's "strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
