India, May 9 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of Pochishe Boishakh, remembering the Nobel laureate as one of India's greatest literary and cultural icons.

In his message, PM Modi described Tagore as a writer, philosopher, poet, educationist and artist whose works reflected the spirit and depth of India's civilisation.

The Prime Minister said Rabindranath Tagore's thoughts and literary contributions continue to inspire generations and guide society through their emphasis on culture, creativity and human values.
