India, Oct. 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, built at a cost of around Rs.4,900 crore.

Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay jointly flagged off the new Metro services and travelled on a train along the route.

The newly inaugurated stretch is part of Corridor 4 of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project. It comprises 11 elevated Metro stations spanning approximately 15 km.
