India, July 12 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep condolences over the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of Qatar, remembering him as a "visionary leader" and a "true friend" of India. In a message shared on social media, PM Modi said Sheikh Hamad played a pivotal role in transforming Qatar into a prosperous and globally respected nation. He also recalled meeting the late leader during his visit to Qatar in February 2024.
