India, Oct. 24 -- Senior Advocate Pinky Anand has been appointed a judge of the Bahrain International Commercial Court (BICC), which is set to launch on November 5.

The BICC is modelled on the Singapore International Commercial Court and will handle complex cross-border commercial disputes in English and Arabic. It will also offer a right of appeal to Singapore's international committee for English-language cases.

Alternatively, a BICC appellate tribunal will hear the appeal if the original judgment is in Arabic or the parties so agree. With Pinky Anand and other appointments, the BICC bench now has 17 judges, seven women and 10 men.
