PCI wants CBI probe into para athlete's murder; writes to minister
India, June 5 -- Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) President Devendra Jhajharia has urged Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to seek a CBI probe into the murder of para-athlete Chirag Tyagi, saying the case has "deeply shaken" the country's para-sports community. Tyagi was found dead near Sai Upvan in Ghaziabad on May 30. He was a resident of Basantpur Sethli village in Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Tyagi, who was a national-level gold medallist and had also qualified for this year's Asian Games, was shot dead and another para-athlete Yash Khatik, has been detained.
