India, Dec. 21 -- A Parliamentary panel has called for the rigorous implementation of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (LARR Act), particularly in the Scheduled Areas, and raised concerns over violations of the Act's provisions.

In a report tabled in Parliament this week, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, chaired by Congress MP SaptagiriSankarUlaka, expressed concern that despite the existence of statutory provisions, there continues to be violations in practice, such as undervaluation of land, particularly in the Scheduled Areas, where market transactions are restricted.
