India, June 17 -- Jewellers across Pakistan have launched a nationwide shutdown in protest against what they describe as increasing tax pressure and stringent measures introduced by the government and tax authorities.

Trade bodies representing jewellers, goldsmiths, and precious metal traders have announced the closure of markets and businesses in several major cities, demanding relief from new tax regulations and compliance requirements.
