Only 50% of India's STPs meet 2015 norms: Par panel
India, Aug. 5 -- Only 50 per cent of 1,044 sewage treatment plants (STPs) comply with the discharge standards notified in 2015 and merely 15 per cent meet the stricter standards prescribed in 2019, according to a parliamentary committee's report tabled in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The report referred to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' (MoHUA) submission before the Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs chaired by Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy during its sitting held on March 24 this year.
