India, March 12 -- National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah escaped unhurt in a firing incident during a marriage function in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu on Wednesday night.

The firing incident was reported near the Royal Park banquet hall, where former CM Farooq Abdullah and Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary were also present to attend a wedding function. An accused, identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal, was overpowered by security personnel and taken into custody.

Surinder Choudhary sustained minor injuries while Farooq Abdullah escaped unhurt. Local police authorities cordoned off the entire area and escorted Dr Abdullah from the spot.
