India, July 9 -- The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) on Wednesday said a sewerage network developed under the Namami Gange programme has brought the sewerage systems of Rishikesh, Tapovan and Muni Ki Reti under a single framework, transforming wastewater management in the region.

The NMCG emphasised that the transformation is not the result of a single project but of a comprehensive restructuring of the region's wastewater management system.

According to the mission, before the programme was launched, drains from Rishikesh flowed directly into the Ganga, sewage treatment capacity was limited, and the sewerage systems of Rishikesh, Tapovan and Muni Ki Reti operated independently.
