India, Feb. 12 -- Multiple murder accused gangster Vijay Palande on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against the appointment of lawyer Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor (SPP) in his case. In his plea, Palande contended that Nikam cannot continue as SPP in the case due to his nomination as a member of the Rajya Sabha and it will amount to holding an "office of profit".
Nikam contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election as a BJP candidate from the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency.
