Mob attacks Assam Rifles camp in Manipur
India, July 16 -- An unruly mob targeted an Assam Rifles camp in Manipur's Senapati town on the night of 14-15 July, resorting to stone-pelting, arson, and vandalism, defence officials said on Wednesday.
The violence erupted following an area domination patrol and search operation launched by the Assam Rifles. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence inputs regarding the presence of armed cadres in the Makuilongdi area, located about two kilometres west of a designated NSCN (IM) camp at Oklong.
Intelligence reports and social media updates had indicated that armed cadres were moving outside their designated camps, carrying weapons and wearing uniforms in blatant violation of the established Ceasefire Ground Rules. The ...
