India, July 1 -- The Centre has officially rolled out the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB-G RAM G, replacing the nearly two-decade-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) from July 1. The new rural employment framework is aimed at aligning job creation with the government's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision while strengthening rural infrastructure and livelihoods.

One of the biggest changes under the new law is the increase in the guaranteed employment period from 100 days to 125 days per rural household each financial year.
