India, June 7 -- Residents of several villages in Meghalaya have launched protests against the proposed alignment of the India-Bangladesh border fence, expressing concerns that the project could leave their communities isolated from the rest of the country.

Villagers in the East Khasi Hills district claim that the planned fencing route would place their homes, farmland, and essential resources between the international border and the fence, creating difficulties in movement and access.
