India, July 5 -- Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Saturday directed officials to step up inspection of spa centres, hotels and other commercial establishments and take strict action against any violation of civic rules.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officials of Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) Public Health Department, Wahi asked deputy health officers of all 12 zones to hold weekly review meetings and intensify surveillance and enforcement drives across the city, according to a statement.

The directions come in the wake of recent fire incidents in Lucknow and Delhi's Malviya Nagar, with the mayor asking officials to ensure that such cases are not repeated.
