India, May 31 -- In a major development in the Ghaziabad teen murder case, the main accused, Asad, was killed in a police encounter late Saturday night.

Asad was wanted for the murder of 17-year-old Class 11 student Surya Pratap Chauhan, who was allegedly stabbed to death in Khoda Colony following an argument linked to a Bakrid invitation.

Police had launched an intensive manhunt after the incident and had announced a reward for information leading to his arrest.

According to police, Asad was intercepted during a joint operation by Khoda and Indirapuram police teams.

Officials said he allegedly opened fire while trying to evade arrest, prompting retaliatory action. He sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at a hospital. One...
