India, May 18 -- At least 12 people were killed and over 20 others injured in a tragic road accident in Maharashtra's Palghar district after a container truck collided with a vehicle carrying a wedding party.

The accident took place around 4 am on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway near the Kasa area, when a speeding container truck rammed into a smaller truck transporting more than 40 wedding guests. The impact of the collision was so severe that both vehicles overturned and were heavily damaged.

According to police officials, several passengers were trapped inside the mangled vehicle following the crash. Locals, police teams, and rescue workers rushed to the spot and carried out relief operations.
