India, Oct. 19 -- The Union Territory Administration in Leh foiled a planned silent march, jointly called by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) in Leh on Saturday, after enforcing strict restrictions and suspending mobile internet services to prevent a large assembly of people.

A large number of police personnel and paramilitary forces were deployed on ground zero, and concertina wires were spread in the middle of the roads to prevent the mass assembly of people.

The call for a silent march and a three-hour-long blackout on Saturday was given by the representatives of two local bodies, LAB and KDA, to express solidarity with those who lost their lives in widespread violence on September 24.
