India, June 4 -- President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed condolences on Wednesday over the deaths of 21 people in the Malviya Nagar hotel fire, with the Prime Minister announcing an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for each person injured.

President Murmu said the news of the deaths was extremely heartbreaking. "I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured," she said in a post on X.
