Lalit Modi announces return to India
India, July 23 -- Lalit Modi, the founder and former chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has spent more than 16 years abroad because of controversies and legal troubles. Now, he says he plans to visit India again at the end of 2026 or early 2027.
This will be his first visit to India since he left in 2010, ending a long period of self-exile and difficulties. Many cricket fans are looking forward to his return. He decided to come back after a major legal win. On July 16, 2026, the Appellate Tribunal ruled in his favour in the 2009 IPL South Africa FEMA case.
