India, Oct. 23 -- Ending a month-long standoff, a nine-member delegation of the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday. The LAB and KDA stressed on a time-bound resolution of their demands for Statehood and the Sixth Schedule for Ladakh.

The groups also demanded the immediate release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was detained on September 26 under the National Security Act (NSA) and lodged in a jail in Rajasthan's Jodhpur. The last round of structured talks between the LAB, the KDA and the Centre was held in 2025.

The leaders had boycotted the previous round of talks scheduled with the MHA on October 6 after violent clash...
