India, Feb. 10 -- Jammu and Kashmir is poised for a significant boost in its hydropower sector, with the total installed generation capacity projected to reach 7,314.85 MW by 2030-31, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Monday.

Replying in writing to a question from National Conference MLA Khurshid Ahmad during the Legislative Assembly session, the Chief Minister, who also holds the Power Development portfolio, stated that the Union Territory currently operates 32 hydroelectric projects with a combined installed capacity of 3,540 MW.
