India, July 31 -- The Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) on Thursday reported a 10 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 1,927 crore for the first quarter of the current financial year on improved core income.

The NBFC, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways, had earned a net profit of Rs 1,746 crore in the year-ago period.

The company's total income rose to Rs 8,391 crore in the April-June period from Rs 6,918 crore a year ago, IRFC said in a regulatory filing.

However, the interest income declined to Rs 1,148 crore as against Rs 1,497 crore in the same period a year ago.

Lease income during the quarter improved to Rs 7,094 crore from Rs 5,404 crore in the year-ago period.
